How to Enable Trackpad Mode in iOS 12 on iPhone 6, 6 Plus, SE, or iPhone 5s and iPad Running iOS 12
Step # 1. Launch any application where you want to use the trackpad.
I will open the application Notes to test this feature. Now, display the software keyboard as you normally do.
Step # 2. To enter trackpad mode, you must press the Spacebar key and hold it down
Once this mode is activated, you can start the experiment.

To enter text selection mode, simply tap a shaded area while pressing the Space key. Then you have to slide your finger over the text to select it. (On your 3D Touch compatible iPhone, you can tap the screen to select the text.)
Once the text is selected, you can go ahead and edit it as usual. Yes, you do not need to hold the space key to do it.
You can press the selection to access multiple formatting options such as Cut, Copy, Paste, Share Find, and more.
